Myth: Migraines are just headaches.

Fact: Migraines cannot be cured, but they can be controlled. Two proven ways are to avoid things that you know triggers your migraines and the other is to treat your attacks with a proven medication.
Myth: Your migraines are so bad that you must have some serious disease causing them. Fact: This simply is not true. It is thought that chemicals in the brain affect your brain’ s blood vessels, causing migraines. Myth: There is no need to take a migraine seriously. Fact: Migraines are a true medical problem and need to be taken as serious as other diseases like arthritis or diabetes.
Myth: Menstrual migraines are unavoidable.
Fact: By controlling the number of triggers present during the week before menstruation, menstrual migraine can be avoided or easily treated. Triggers such as loss of sleep or missing a meal are definitely two important triggers that you want to stay clear of. The menstrual migraine is an internal trigger caused by the drop in estrogen levels.
Myth: Migraines are a sign that you are stressed or are unhappy.
Fact: The truth is stress or depression can make your migraine worse but is not the cause alone for your migraine. Dismissing the migraine as a product of stress or depression can cause sufferers to neglect the underlying triggers that cause their pain.
Myth: Using over-the-counter relief medications as often as I want is OK.
Fact: Even if you use the recommended dosage of pain, tension or sinus relief medications, you are putting yourself at risk of medication overuse headache.
Myth: Any prescription medication will make your migraine vanish.
Fact: There are probably hundreds of different prescription drugs on the market today, but each and every person is different and each medication affects not everyone in the same way. You could try many of them before finally finding the one that is right for your type of migraine.
Myth: The foods and beverages you put into your body cannot trigger a migraine.
Fact: Everything that you ingest or inhale can be the answer to what triggers the strength and length of the throbbing pain in your head.
Myth: For generations all the family females have gone through life with migraines, meaning you being female will also have to tolerate the pain.
Fact: Just because your female family members have suffered from migraines does not necessarily mean you are going to be doomed with them too.
