Sinus Headache Or Migraine ?

There are often times when you feel really bad due to Allergies & Sinus problems. If you feel that you are sick alot due to allergies you should report your symptoms to your doctor. He or She can run allergy tests on you to see exactly what you are allergic to.  Alot of times people are allergic to things that they might not even dream of. Pet dandruff is the culprit in many cases. Many people have had to find new homes for their loving cat or dog. Some (like myself) decide to suffer with the flu like symptoms rather than give up their furry little loved ones. This is just one scenerio that can cause a migraine.

Sinus headache pain is most often felt in the center of the face, the bridge of the nose, and the cheeks. It may also occur behind the eyes and be accompanied by nasal congestion and clear post nasal drip. Any condition that causes the nose or sinus membranes to become swollen, can narrow or completely block, the ostia resulting in a sinus headache. Whereas a migraine is usually felt on one side of the head accompanied by blurred vision, increased hearing, nausea and dizziness.

Air pressure inside the sinuses contributes to sinus headache. Typically, the air pressure inside the sinuses is the same as the pressure in the nose and in the air around you. But blockage of the ostia can result in unusually low air pressure inside the sinuses, which produces sinus pain. A bacterial sinus infection not only causes head pain, but also often produces foul-smelling, yellow-green discharge, coughed up from the back of the throat, that can leave a bad taste in the mouth.

People with allergies seem especially susceptible to sinus headache. The best methods for keeping these allergies at bay are antihistamines or corticosteroid nasal sprays. Many antihistamine are available over the counter, but corticosteroids require a doctors prescription. If you are tight for money ask your doctor for the least expensive brands. Take note that these brands might not be the best for you, but you can try them and if you feel like there is a better kind for you just call your doctor and request a different prescription.
